Lower Bike Insurance Premiums for Young Riders
When purchasing bike insurance the premiums can be quite high for the
young bike rider. In fact many are shocked when they learn the exact
rate. The reason for this high premium rate is that young bike riders
are at a high risk for accidents. Therefore since they are more likely
to file a claim they are also charged more.
However there are some things that a young bike rider can do in order to
lower their insurance premiums by quite a bit. In the United Kingdom,
once someone reaches the age of 16 they can drive bikes, mopeds and
scooters so long as the engines are below the 50cc capacity. Then two
years later when they turn 18 they can drive much more powerful bikes.
When this shift is made these more powerful bikes the amount of their
insurance premium also increases. Choosing a bike with a smaller inch
and will not only save you money on fuel that on your insurance premium
as well. Another savings that will be realized is maintenance of the
bike. Another way to save money is to choose an older model of a
motorbike rather than a brand new model.
Providing proof to your insurer that you are good driver can also help
reduce your premiums. In order to do this you must obtain a certificate
in known as the Enhanced Rider Scheme. This certificate can be obtained
by completing a designated writing course. You must successfully
complete the course and then submit the certificate to the insurance
agency to obtain the discount.
Perhaps one of the best ways to keep your motor bike insurance
premium down is simply to stay out of trouble. Convictions for
dangerous driving practices cannot only raise your premiums that could
potentially cause your insurer to cancel your coverage altogether.
